Hellenic won promotion from the Cape Western League in 1963 and played their first match in 1964 at Hartleyvale when they lost to Arcadia United 4:2.

Ron Patterson was their first manager and he was replaced by Chilean, Mario Tuani. Sixteen players were imported that season and included Fernando Custodio, Filakouris, Jackie Wren and Fred Ellison.

In 1965 further overseas players were signed, among them two players who did so well with Highlands Park, Santoro and Walter da Silva. De Castro and Ken Brownlee were also among that group.

George Georgiades was the manager in 1966 and more signings followed, then Peter Jaffer took over the reins.

Possibly their best season was in 1964 when they finished in fifth place. They moved to Green Point Stadium from Hartleyvale in 1965 and their new home was one of the most compact grounds in the league.

A bright future was expected for this club who made themselves popular all over the country with their brand of soccer.
